Federal Golf Club

Federal Golf Club is rated amongst the best inland courses in Australia. The Federal Amateur Open Championship (Sept 29 - Oct 2) is an AGU National Selection Trial event. Course data: Men - Par 72 . Distance (Blue tees) 6248m ACR (Blue) 73, White 71. Women - Par 73 Distance 5508m. AWCR 75.

Our course development plan which saw all poa greens converted to bent grass has been completed. In December 2007, we also converted all farirways to couch. As of March 2008, most fairways have an 80% cover. It is expected the coverage on all fairways will be 95%-100% come May 2008.

A gentle dogleg left, slightly downhill from the tee to the bend with a deep bunker on the left of the fairway at the corner. Longer hitters can reach or clear the bunker. At the bend the fairway dips further before an incline to the green with bunkers on both sides.

 

2ND HOLE - Par 4 (Blue) 369 metres (White) 357m (Red) 274m

An undulating gentle dogleg right. Tee shots right of the fairway may find open ground or tree trouble. The green is visible from the bend with two shallow bunkers on the topside to the right, a hidden bunker rear right, and a deeper bunker on the lower side to the left of the green. To the rear left there is steep slope off the edge.

 

3rd HOLE - Par 3 (Blue) 173 metres (White) 150m (Red) 154m

A straight hit from an elevated tee across a valley to the green protected by substantial single bunkers to both sides.

A slight dogleg left with a shallow bunker on the right and a deeper bunker on the left of the fairway at the bend for the longer tee shots.  From the bend there is a steep incline to an elevated green with 2 bunkers to the right and a grass pot on the front left.

Angles gently right. Whilst the green is the green is not visible from the tee, the flag can often be spotted.  Shallow bunkers on the topside to the right and a deeper bunker on the lower left provide a narrow entrance to the green.  There is a steep slope off the rear left side of the green.

 

6th HOLE - Par 4 (Blue) 408 metres (White) 402m (Red) 292

A straight hole to the green. The fairway slopes from left to right. Bunkers protect both sides of the green although the front left bunker is not visible until players are close to the green.

A dogleg left with a large bunker on the left of the fairway at the bend. The fairway crests at the bend revealing a narrow entrance to a tiered green protected by two bunkers on the right and one on the higher front left of the green. Swales left of the green provide additional protection.

Slight uphill incline to a heavily bunkered, forward sloping green. The entrance is narrow and the green is deceptively long.

From the blue tees (left of the 8th green) the hole is a dogleg to the left with a large eucalypt dominating the left side of the fairway within driving range. From the red tees (beyond the 8th green) the hole is straight ahead. The fairway slopes from right to left, levelling out on the approach to a tiered, sloping green with bunkers set to the left.

 

10th HOLE Par 4 (Blue)  406 metres (White) 387m (Red) 351m

Straight downhill with a slight left to right sloping fairway. Bunkers protect both sides of the entrance to the green. The bank at the rear of the green slopes away with a steep incline.

A dogleg left, uphill from the bend midway along the fairway to an elevated green. A bunker protects the front right of the green whilst to the left grass swales predominate. There is a flat run-off area at the back leading to a sloping incline.

A straight hit from an elevated tee across a gully to a forward sloping green protected by a deep bunker to the front right. and grass swales to the left and around the rear half of the green.

 

13TH HOLE - Par 5 (Blue) 470 metres (White) 450m  (Red) 400m

A slight dogleg right. Drive across a gentle valley to the bend from where a slight down slope becomes a gentle incline to the green. Bunkers protect the approach to the green on both sides of the fairway. A deep bunker guards the front right of the green.

 

14th HOLE - Par 4  (Blue) 375 metres (White) 356m (Red) 316m

A slight dogleg left. Drive from an elevated tee downhill to the bend where the fairway slopes from left to right. Longer hitters may cut the corner or reach a shallow bunker on the right of the fairway. A gentle incline leads up to the green protected by large bunkers to the front left and right.

 

15th HOLE - Par 4  (Blue) 350 metres (White) 308m (Red) 321m

A dogleg right. Drive from an elevated tee to the bend with a shallow bunker on the right. From the bend there is a steep incline to an elevated, tiered green protected by bunkers to the front right and left. There is another bunker to left rear side of the green.

 

16th HOLE -Par 3 (Blue) 135 metres (White) 147m  (Red) 130m

Slightly downhill from the tee to a heavily bunkered green. To the left and rear, steep banks fall away from the green.

 

17th HOLE - Par 5 (Blue) 504 metres (White) 497m  (Red) 412m

A dogleg right starting with an uphill drive to the fairway sloping from left to right. Shallow bunkers lie on the right at the crest of the hill where the fairway angles slightly right, looking down a left to right sloping fairway with bunkers on both sides protecting a narrow entrance to the green.

 

18th HOLE - Par 4  (Blue)  385m (White)  328m  (Red) 328m

A dogleg right starting with an uphill drive towards the corner. The fairway continues around the corner climbing to an elevated, sloping green. There is a banked entrance to the green with deep bunkers to the right of the green.
